About
The Subtle Bias Lab seeks to identify and understand the social-psychological factors that contribute to social inequity as well as social change. Our lab examines how everyday behaviors and practices that are taken for granted can serve as cues of exclusion for members of historically stigmatized groups. We use scientific research methods to explore the manifestation and consequences of subtle forms of bias – biases that are often unintentional, seemingly harmless, and easily justified, and as a result, are difficult to detect and tend to operate under the radar. We seek to uncover these subtle forms of bias, understand their consequences, and develop remedies.
